The displays are equipped with a 70×40 mm window. They offer a resolution of 128×64 dots and a screen size of approximately 3 inches. Each dot measures 0.5×0.5 mm and can be activated individually, so the matrix can be used to display text, images and simple animations. Compact dimensions of the entire module (which do not exceed 77.4×52.4×10.5 mm) facilitate its integration into mobile devices. Selected models (designated with the suffixes: -PWN and -PW) also feature a frame to facilitate the alignment and mechanical mounting. Readability is improved thanks to white backlight LEDs (applies to the aforementioned models). Also, note that the displays come in two variants: positive and negative.

The LCDs can be powered with a voltage ranging from 2.8V to 3.3V DC, which is commonly applied in microcontroller-based circuits. The module is operated using the ST7565R family controller – supporting libraries are available for a number of programming languages and can be downloaded free of charge. Communication with the display takes place via a serial SPI or parallel 8-bit interface.
