Bosch to provide pure lithium Electric vehicle batteries

Bosch acquires pure lithium process for electric vehicle batteries

Bosch is going to debut a battery technology for electric car systems that would be out in market under five years. This would be an innovative step in the area of battery technology. as solid-state cells for lithium batteries would be developed to the acquisition of the US start-up Seeo Inc.

“Bosch is using its knowledge and considerable financial resources to achieve a breakthrough for electromobility,” said Dr. Volkmar Denner, the chairman of the board of management of Robert Bosch GmbH.

With this new solid state cell, Bosch will acquire double energy density by the year 2020 with reduced costs. Over the research they said that the electric cars that used to drive 150km ill now be driven 300 km without recharging.

The company surveys and states that by 2025 in Europe itself more than a third of all the cars will be electrically powered and become hybrid powertrains.

In 2014 Bosch joined GS Yuasa and Mitsubishi Corporation in establishing the joint venture Lithium Energy and Power GmbH & Co. KG, with the objective to develop a more sustainable and powerful batteries made up of Lithium Ions. currently used Lithium batteries are less operational due to a large content of graphite in them, company says that a anode made up of pure lithium will increase the storage capacity. further the new cells will function without ionic  liquid and will be non flammable.
