We are pleased to announce that we have established a partnership with the Korean brand ABOV Semiconductor. The popular Asian circuits from this manufacturer are now available from the TME catalog and shipped directly from our warehouses.

Microcontrollers ABOV Semiconductor combine three advantages: affordable price, wide functionality, and user support through the use of an extensive, intuitive graphical interface. Additionally, these components already enjoy a stable market position, primarily due to Korean home appliance suppliers who eagerly use ABOV circuits in their premium segment products.

ABOV Semiconductor is a global supplier that, in addition to microcontrollers (MCUs), also offers HMI (Human-Machine Interface) solutions and AI-enabled solutions (including Voice Processing). Its R&D capabilities are built on more than 30 years of experience in the semiconductor industry, inherited from the company’s predecessors, LG Semiconductor and MagnaChip.

The ABOV Codegen development environment allows you to utilize the full functionality of microcontrollers and their peripherals without detailed knowledge of circuit architecture, while not requiring tedious learning of library handling and its nuances. ABOV offers models with 8- and 32-bit architecture, which can be programmed in blocks using the CodeGen8 and CodeGen32 environments provided free of charge by the supplier.

We have introduced both the mentioned microcontrollers and starter kits into the TME offer – excellent tools supporting learning and prototyping. More about these products later in the text, but we already invite you to visit our catalog and familiarize yourself with the supplier’s assortment.

The new offer includes four main product groups: 8-bit microcontrollers with 8051 architecture, 32-bit microcontrollers (ARM Cortex-M0+ core), and starter kits containing circuits from these two families.

The 8-bit circuits are available in versions with a clock frequency of 4MHz or 16MHz, offering from 6 to 46 inputs/outputs (up to 48 pins) and up to 64kB of FLASH memory for program storage. They require a supply voltage ranging from 1.8V to 5.5V DC. The microcontrollers integrate peripherals such as GPIO ports, 16-bit timers, PWM generators, 12-bit A/C converters. Selected models feature peripherals such as a hardware I2C interface or high-current GPIO outputs, primarily intended as LED power sources.

For 32-bit microcontrollers, the clocks are clocked with a signal from 32MHz to 48MHz and have memory with a capacity of up to 256kB. GPIO ports can have 75 input/output pins (including in the version LED driver). Here, the peripherals include a much wider selection of interfaces, including USART, UART, I2C, and SPI; as well as timers (including 32-bit), A/C converters, several DMA channels, or Watchdog.

Evaluation kit boards have pre-installed circuits from the 8- or 32-bit families. They are programmed and powered (via a voltage stabilizer) using USB ports. To facilitate work, the microcontroller pins are brought out to pin headers, whose functionality is described on the PCB. To facilitate the creation of first projects, buttons and LEDs pre-installed in the circuit are permanently connected to selected GPIO pins.
