Imec has opened imec Florida, a design center concentrating on photonics and high-speed electronics (IC) design.
The association said it has consented to a joint effort arrangement with the University of Central Florida, Osceola County and the International Consortium for Advanced Manufacturing Research (ICAMR), to build up fabrication facilities for the improvement and generation of III-V-on-silicon device for a scope of application including terahertz and lidar sensors, high-speed electronics and photonic devices.
US semiconductor market keeps on reinforcing with semiconductor producing, hardware, materials and system innovation, we are satisfied to work together with accomplice associations in Florida and see Osceola County in the Orlando locale as an interesting area to drive the following period of imec’s development and advancement,” said Luc Van sanctum hove, pictured, imec’s president and CEO.Imec Florida will be built up as a design centre, connecting imec’s head office in Belgium with US based semiconductor and framework organizations, universities, and research centre. Imec Florida’s underlying center will be R&D into high speed electronics and photonics arrangements, beginning with integrated circuit design research for such applications as THz and LIDAR sensors and imagers
Bert Gyselinckx, an Imec VP, will head the Florida research centre as general manger
