What is ADS Max?
DigilentAnalog Discovery Studio Max (ADS Max), a versatile and comprehensive electronics laboratory solution tailored for academic environments, which is designed to redefine how students learn and apply electronics principles. Whether you’re a professor seeking to enhance your lab courses, a student eager to explore real-world applications, or an engineer looking for a comprehensive testing solution, the ADS Max is engineered to deliver unparalleled performance and flexibility.

The reason ADS Max won the judges’ favor lies in its groundbreaking solution to the pain points of traditional engineering education, creating a comprehensive solution that combines professionalism, portability, and scalability:
- 14-in-1 Integrated Design: Condensing a Complete Laboratory
Tailored specifically for academic scenarios, ADS Max integrates 14 core test instruments—including an oscilloscope, waveform generator, logic analyzer, spectrum analyzer, and digital multimeter—into a single portable device, eliminating the cluttered setup of traditional lab workbenches. Its hardware specifications set industry benchmarks: the 4-channel analog oscilloscope supports a 100 MS/s sampling rate and 50 MHz bandwidth, with 14-bit high resolution ensuring measurement accuracy; the programmable power supply covers a ±15V voltage range, and when paired with 16 multi-functional digital I/O channels, it meets experimental needs for courses in circuit design, signal analysis, and embedded systems. Compared to its predecessor, ADS Max adds an independent 4.5-digit digital multimeter and IV analyzer, further expanding its application in teaching.
- Hardware-Software Ecosystem Synergy: Adapting to Diverse Teaching Scenarios
ADS Max deeply integrates Digilent’s hardware strengths with NI’s software capabilities to build an open, user-friendly ecosystem. The bundled DigilentWaveForms software offers a unified graphical interface, supporting simultaneous “simulation and real-world measurement” display—greatly lowering the learning curve for students. It also supports multiple programming languages, including Python, C/C++, and LabVIEW, enabling custom software development and automated test script writing to meet needs across basic teaching to advanced research. Additionally, the product supports detachable, course-customized Canvas expansion boards, providing ready-to-use experiment kits for specialties like wireless communications and power electronics. Combined with remote learning compatibility, it perfectly aligns with modern educational concepts such as flipped classrooms and blended learning.

- Ultimate Portability + Durability: Transforming Teaching Scenarios
Guided by the design philosophy of “a complete laboratory in a compact body,” ADS Max allows students to conduct hands-on training without relying on fixed labs—whether for in-class teaching, after-class practice, or remote learning, only a computer connection is needed to start experiments. Its robust hardware design withstands high-frequency educational use.
This award not only demonstrates Digilent’s technological expertise in test and measurement, but also foreshadows that portable, integrated experimental equipment will become an important direction for innovation in engineering education, injecting strong momentum into the cultivation of the next generation of engineers.
