Job Role:
*Prepare converter valve designs using engineering tools and create detailed design reports for project and tender requirements.
*Develop technical documents, including valve design details, type and routine test specifications, and pre-commissioning guidelines for project execution.
*Review and implement customer specifications while carrying out clause-by-clause analysis and risk assessment.
*Coordinate with system design, layout, commercial, and other engineering teams to finalize product requirements.
*Perform testing and validation of high-voltage power electronic equipment, including IGBTs, thyristors, and associated passive components used in valve converters.
*Design and develop IGBT and thyristor driver circuits for converter applications.
*Work on protection and control circuit design for IGBT- and thyristor-based systems.
*Prepare routine and type test procedures and support pre-commissioning activities.
*Provide technical support throughout the product lifecycle, from development and tendering to commissioning.
*Assist with on-site installation, commissioning, and customer training for valve converter systems.
*Be available for international travel, with approximately 20% travel required for project and customer support.
Qualifications / Requirements
*Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or a related discipline.
Required Characteristics
*Hands-on experience with power electronic converters, including high-power motor drives, HVDC, and FACTS systems.
*Strong knowledge of power electronic components such as IGBTs, thyristors, and passive devices.
*Experience in testing and validating power electronic equipment.
*Understanding of thermal design, including power loss calculations, heatsink selection, and liquid cooling systems.
*Skilled in preparing technical specifications and engineering reports.
*Proficient in simulation tools like MATLAB/Simulink and PSCAD-EMTDC.
*Ability to gather and manage technical requirements.
*Familiar with risk assessment and mitigation practices.
*Good understanding of EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) standards.
*Strong verbal and written communication skills.
*Knowledge of high-voltage engineering principles.
*Capable of coordinating and leading small engineering teams.
